The Canucks on Twitter: Who's Next?

Just as recently as July, you would have been hard-pressed to find any sort of worthwhile interaction on the good 'ol Twitter between a Canucks player himself, and the general public. As a fan myself, I felt like we were getting the short end of the stick; the Canucks boast a medley of fascinating characters, with unique personalities, that would thrive in a setting in which they can share with their fans on a regular basis.

Enter, Ryan Kesler. While rehabbing his surgically repaired hip, he has experienced a social media revival, of sorts. Not settling for just throwing himself into the mix, he also convinced Kevin Bieksa to give in to the "Twitter needs Juice" campaign started by the Pass it to Bulis blog-- with Alex Burrows, reportedly, not too far behind. Now, we've got something cookin'. I should point out that I was relieved that all the hype surrounding Kevin Bieksa's arrival onto the twitter scene wasn't about Roberto Luongo -- quite frankly, I'm not sure he could handle the pressure.

Editor's note: Before the deranged emails begin to pour into our mailbox, please be aware that the last comment on Luongo was 100% tongue-in-cheek. It was spurred by the latest idiocy by "Canucks fans", in which 62% declared (via Team 1040 poll) that the netminder was the biggest concern heading into training camp. My response is plain, and simple:  Really? Really?! You can't see it from your computer screen, but I am hanging my head as a psychologically defeated man would.

That got us thinking: what could some of the other Canucks contribute to the Twitter world?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mikael Samuelsson (@MikaehhhhlSamuelsson): A pure wizard when it comes to expressing himself in the English language. I for one, would love to see his thoughts on all sorts of topics, such as politics and the economic crisis.

@MikaehhhhlSamuelsson: EHHH ehh ehh EHHH, I don't know #winning

@MikaehhhhlSamuelsson: @swedisholympiccommittee you can go **** yourselves.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin (@Sedinery): They share everything, and I mean everything, else. This seems like a foregone conclusion, right? Plus, as co-bloggers who share a Twitter account, we know the difficulties that come with the territory-- should they sign off after every tweet? what if they both respond to a topic, with differing takes? and what if they reach a point where they find themselves conversing with each other awkwardly through a series of tweets directed at seemingly, themselves?

Mason Raymond (@Mase): Raymond's Twitter account would leave us feeling like there's something more there, that he isn't quite able to tap into. There would definitely be flashes of brilliance, making us feel like he could potentially be an elite tweeter. Unfortunately, there would also be times that would leave us feeling empty, and somewhat disappointed. One thing would be for sure: the fans would never know what to expect from his tweets, no matter how well they think they know what he's capable of. Will he ever be able to consistently post quality thoughts on Twitter? He's still young, so let's give him a little bit more time before we pass judgement.

Keith Ballard (@Keithballard4): How great would it be if Ballard got on Twitter after a few cocktails and spilled the beans about why Alain Vigneault hates him so much? Maybe Ballard kicked AV's dog or maybe he just accidentally ruined AV's favourite shirt. Plus, if Ballard gets into this whole Twitter thing, we're guaranteed to see some internet death threats going Tomas Vokoun's way.

@Keithballard4: @tomasvokoun October 29th, you're a dead man. If you thought last time was rough? You got off easy..

@Keithballard4: Can you believe AV? Look at the games playing over me! (2:14 AM, Saturday).

@Keithballard4: Sorry folks. Account was hacked last night (11:38 AM, Sunday).

Sami Salo (@TheRehabbinFin): If we learned anything from Ryan Kesler's summer, it's that being on the shelf with an injury allows a man to devote more time to his Twitter account. With that in mind, it's safe to assume that Sami Salo will be a volume tweeter, of the mold of a Bruce Arthur. What can we expect from the Finnish veteran? Motivational tweets about the shape he is getting into, pictures of his rehab sessions with trainers, and dashing shots of his suits, while residing in the press-box. He'll be a must follow during the season, as his analysis on the games in progress will certainly be top-notch-- step aside, Nick Kyprios, there's a new insider in town.

Mike Duco (@Mike_duco): Whoops. We have been down that road before..

With all of this taken into consideration, which Vancouver Canuck would you like to see join Twitter?
